Thank you for visiting Gloriously Good Food

This blog is written by Frederika Roberts, a passionate ‘foodie’

A little bit about me:

I am Italian and German (my culinary influences are definitely Italian!), born in Italy but moved to Luxembourg when I was 2 years old.  Growing up in Luxembourg is a unique experience and one I feel privileged to have been exposed to.

Luxembourg is a multi-cultural hub with many nationalities (mainly European) living side by side, sharing not just languages but also culinary influences.  As a country, Luxembourg probably has some of the best authentic Italian (and other European) Restaurants outside of their own country.  So I was fortunate when it came to food.

I also still have a lot of family in Italy (Rome & Sardinia now, but I also spent much time with my grandparents in my birth town of Pescara on the Adriatic Coast when I was growing up), so I spent much time in both my grandmothers’ kitchens when I was little (and not so little, too!), helping out, asking questions, learning (I wrote a blog post outlining a speech I did at Doncaster Speakers in June 2013 about my love of food and the memories of my maternal Grandmother in the kitchen.  Click here to read it).

Cooking (as well as eating!) is a passion of mine and I wanted to create a blog to share some of my recipes. Some of them are classics, others are concoctions I come up with when I want to try something different and throw together whatever ingredients I have to hand. So many people tell me they can’t cook and they’re afraid to experiment…they won’t try something unless they have an exact recipe.  Hopefully my blog provides easily accessible recipes for all, but I hope I can inspire readers to go beyond the recipes and experiment with ingredients themselves.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to fill in the comments boxes on the blog pages, but you can also contact me by e-mail. I will endeavour to respond as soon as I can.

  1. I’m also passionate about cooking and love to do experiments with the food sometimes they were successful and sometimes fail. Beside all good and bad experience cooking always gave me satisfaction and specially complements which i get from my family always inspires me to cook best.

  2. That’s great to hear, Melissa! 🙂 Food is meant to be enjoyed, and it’s meant to be fun. Recipes have all been invented by someone, at some point, and that wouldn’t have happened without experimentation. Keep on cooking, keep on experimenting and, most of all, have fun with it!

  3. I too do a lot of experiments on cooking food and I love to do that. It’s a different fun doing that. Your blog is so inspiring, Frederika! I’m inspired to follow my passion for cooking more clearly. Thank you 🙂
